After months of preparation, construction can finally start, and thanks to the preparations, we also hope for unhindered construction progress!

So here are the things that have been realised in the past few months:

1) We are very grateful for the Dutch committee which is willing to commit to fully monitoring and supervising the construction. The committee includes businessmen, project leaders and some friends. A finance and construction contract has been signed between this group in the Netherlands and the church/ construction team in Togo. This set-up will enable the church to give full transparency on how the funds received are spent. Even if, for example, there is a desire to deviate from the architect's construction drawings, this will be done in consultation with the committee in NL

2) There have also been many meetings on the Togolese side.  Among other things, a document was drawn up explaining all the work-related rules. Many of the workmen are members of our churches, but besides them there will be many other workers. Now it has been laid down how work is going to be done so that everyone knows where they stand (working hours, breaks, what will happen if they are late, for example, how and when salaries will be paid, etc etc).

3) The first €15000 has been transferred to Togo and 10 loads of sand have been delivered today. We are also grateful to two friends from the church in Paris, who visited here a few months ago. They are helping us build a good Excel file so we can enter all expenses there.
