"Odon-Itsu"

Finally, the traditional 'Odon-Itsu' festival, 'the feast of the Njams' could take place again today in Atakpame! This used to be a purely animist festival during which the spirits and ancestors were thanked for the new Njam harvest. Nowadays, it is mainly a folkloric event with a lot of traditional dancing and music. A pastor opened the event with prayer. Some 30 groups showed their dance and stilt walkers also showed off their skills. The latter is a typical Ifè tradition. If you want to have a look what it was like, please whatch this short video.
