In these news updates about Tyrannus Bible Institute it is sometimes easy to focus on the practical and the building side of things....But we need to be very clear about the WHY! WHY DO WE WANT TO BUILD INSTITUTE TYRANNUS?? We believe Institute Tyrannus will provide exactly that what is Togo's greatest need: good, sound Christian resources and faithful theological training for pastors!

  "A colleague recently recounted a conversation that a friend of his overheard while traveling to Uganda. The conversation was between two Egyptian Sheikhs who were sitting directly behind him on the plane. He heard them say that they had come to Uganda to train teachers working in Islamic elementary schools on how to teach the Quran. They shared how the number of Islamic elementary schools is rapidly growing throughout the country as Muslim nations like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and the Gulf States invest large sums of money to spread Islam through the building of mosques and schools and the training of Imams and teachers. They went on to boast how this was happening across Sub-Saharan Africa.

While the Islamic world is ramping up its efforts in Africa the church is simultaneously facing a leadership crisis. Most pastors in Sub-Saharan Africa have had little or no formal theological education. This has led to the spread of dangerous doctrines that blend Christiantity and African traditional religion, promise prosperity and physical healing, or bind the consciences of believers with a works-based system of do’s and don’ts for the Christian life that is contrary to the gospel.  The need for well trained pastors who can contend for the faith and shepherd the flock of God in West Africa has never been more important."
